Faculty Meetings
Faculty meetings are generally 1-2 days (or more) in length and may be CME accredited. Faculty meetings often comprise general plenary sessions, workshops, and/or breakout sessions, and meet-the-expert opportunities. Some may also offer speaker training for attendees, if the meeting objective is to prepare for the implementation of a speakers bureau.

Satellite/Integrated Symposia at Meetings
Satellite/integrated symposia are individual programs held in conjunction with national/international meetings. They are customarily CME accredited and are approximately 2 to 3 hours in length. The agenda may include late-breaking information from data that are being presented at a poster session. An interactive audience polling system can also be used to obtain a consensus from the audience on key issues. Satellite symposia traditionally attract a large number of people. Handouts such as syllabus booklets provide attendees with symposia highlights and important key information.

Social/Off-Site Events
A social event offers an excellent opportunity for the client to meet and network with physicians and their guests on a social level outside the traditional work environment. Unique venues, such as museums, allow for casual interaction while attendees view art exhibits or participate in other cultural events or activities. Themed dinners and live entertainment may enhance the experience.

Advisory Board Meetings
Advisory board meetings provide a small working forum that allows for candid interactions between advisors and clients about product development, current or proposed clinical trials, and future trends in medicine. Additionally, these sessions provide the client with valuable feedback and important insights on current marketing strategies and new or ongoing educational efforts. The proceedings of an advisory board meeting are usually recorded; and from the taped proceedings, an executive summary is produced and distributed to meeting attendees.

Dinner Meetings
Dinner meetings are traditionally 1 to 2 hours in length, enabling busy local physicians to attend evening meetings and hear key opinion leaders present on the latest developments in a specific disease area. A question and answer session follows the formal lecture presentation. Dinner programs may be CME-accredited and are often part of an educational series.

Speakers Bureaus/Grand Rounds
A speakers bureau is composed of faculty members who have specific subject matter expertise and present as part of a grand rounds lecture series. CME-accredited grand rounds programs are an effective means for communicating new information to the medical community. These types of programs are generally held in hospitals or medical centers as part of the institution’s continuing medical education (CME) efforts and can be made available hospital-wide or tailored to meet the needs of specific departments.

Product Launch Meetings/National Sales Meetings
Product launch meetings and national sales meetings vary in size depending on the amount of people in the sales force and home office. The meetings are generally 3-5 days, and usually consist of a general session, various workshops or breakouts, and can also include team building, off-site functions, themed dinners or live entertainment to enhance the learning experience, and increase interaction with the company employees. Motivational speakers, VIPs from corporate office, and key opinion leaders related to the therapeutic area of the product launch also add great value to the take home message of the program.
